PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday recommended a CBI probe into alleged swindling of government money to the tune of over Rs 950 crore by an NGO in Bhagalpur. Kumar’s decision came after a high-level meeting on the case in which government money was allegedly siphoned off by an NGO in Bhagalpur and some nationalised banks and government officials were also suspects. “The CM gave an order to hand over cases registered in the matter to the CBI for inquiry,” an official statement said. The meeting was attended by state chief secretary AK Singh, DGP PK Thakur, principal secretary (home) Amir Subhani and inspector general of police (economic offence unit) GS Gangwar.
