New Delhi: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday expanded his Cabinet by inducting seven ministers from BJP.

With these ministers in the Cabinet, the total number of ministers in Nitish Kumar's Cabinet has reached 36, including Kumar and two deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.

Bihar governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered oath to the newly inducted ministers at the Raj Bhavan. BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde and Bihar BJP co-incharge Deepak Prakash were also present at the ceremony.

BJP has tried to balance the caste equation in the expansion ahead of the yearend assembly elections in the state.

Of the seven ministers, five are from OBC and EBC communities while two are from the upper castes, Bhumihar and Rajput.

Party sources indicate that in the runup to the assembly elections, the party will increase its reach-out among the OBCs and EBCs while strengthening its upper caste vote bank.
