Bihar BJP chief at variance with Dy CM on Darbhanga killing

NEW DELHI: Bihar BJP chief Nityanand Rai has said the state police gave wrong information to deputy chief minister Sushil Modi on the recent killing in Darbhanga and that the dispute was over a board in the name of Narendra Modi.

“I led a team there along with Union minister Giriraj Singh and spoke to the victim’s family to be told that Ram Chandra Yadav, the father of our party’s worker Tej Pratap Yadav, was hacked to death by some miscreants. The family says there was a running dispute over a board placed by Yadav near his house, naming it ‘Narendra Modi Chowk’.

Police has wrongly termed the killing out of a land dispute when there was no such dispute. A couple of times earlier skirmishes had happened over the board -and one happened just half an hour before the murder. The miscreants wanted the board to be removed. This may have been the impact of the videos that surfaced after RJD’s victory in Araria a day before the incident,” Rai told ET.


Askes that Deputy CM Sushil Modi tweeted two days ago that the murder is due to a land dispute and not due to the board, Yadav told ET: "The Deputy CM must have said so based on the wrong information given to him by the police authorities. The facts of the police probe are far from the reality that we have found during our visit. Porailice lodged the FIR without speaking to the person who was injured along with the deceased but took the thumbprint of an grieving woman of the family on a complaint. They have still not arrested the real culprits. It is our government in power in Bihar. I will be informing CM and Deputy CM of the reality."
