Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced a major reshuffle of his Cabinet, elevating four into Cabinet rank along with inducting nine new faces into his team.

In the third revamp of his Cabinet which could become the last of this government, Modi gave India its first full time woman Defence Minister in form of Nirmala Sitharaman.

Dharmendra Pradhan, who belongs to the state of Odisha that is going to polls in 2018, has been given additional charge of Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship apart from Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry where he was there for quite some time. Ex-power minister been given the Railway Ministry from Suresh Prabhu. Goyal will have additional charge of Ministry of Coal.


Prabhu, who resigned as Railway Minister following a series of train accidents, has been moved to Minister of Commerce and Industry.

Newly inducted Cabinet minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has become the Minister of Minority Affairs.

Nine new faces who have been inducted in the Modi cabinet as MoS have got following responsibilities:

Shiv Pratap Shukla: Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance.

Ashwini Kumar Choubey: Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare

RK Singh: Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Power; and
Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

Virendra Kumar: Minister of State in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Anantkumar Hedge: Minister of State in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

Hardeep Singh Puri: Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat: Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare

Satya Pal Singh: Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development; and
Minister of State in the Ministry of Water Resources,
River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.

Alphons Kannanthaman: Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Tourism; and
Minister of State in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
