Big changes in Congress? Top ministers offer to quit to look after party affairs

The ministers include Jairam Ramesh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Salman Khurshid and Vayalar Ravi offering to go back to party works.

NEW DELHI: In a bid to rejig the Congress party, four senior Cabinet ministers on Tuesday wrote to party president Sonia Gandhi saying they want to be relieved of their portfolios and work for the party, according to Timesnow.

The ministers include rural development minister Jairam Ramesh, health and gamily welfare minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, law & justice and minority affairs minister Salman Khurshid and overseas Indian affairs minister Vayalar Ravi offering to go back to party works.

Vayalar Ravi is likely to take the charges of Andhra Pradesh.

Ramesh had quit as minister in 2008 before Lok Sabha elections to work for the party. He has handled the Congress election manifesto and could be a very important person when next Lok Sabha election takes place.
