Biennal polls toAndhra Pradesh, Telangana Legislative Councils on March 16

NEW DELHI: Election Commission today said the biennial elections to two seats each in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Legislative Councils will be held on March 16.

Two seats from Teachers' constituency in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and as many from Graduates' constituency in the Telangana Legislative Council are falling vacant on March 29. All the four seats are falling vacant due to retirement of members.

While the notification will be issued on February 19, the polling will take place on March 16.

Unlike other Legislative Council polls, the counting will not take place on the same day. It will be held on March 19, the EC said in a statement.
