Bhupati's surrender broke backbone of maoism: Fadnavis

Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said the surrender of Maoist commander Sonu alias Bhupati marks the beginning of the end of the Maoist movement in India. "With this surrender, the backbone of the Maoists has been severed. In Gadchiroli now, there is just one company of 8-10 Maoists and they are without any leader. They would also surrender soon, or we will take action against them," he said. Welcoming the surrender of Bhupati and 60 other Maoists in Gadchiroli, Fadnavis said, "I am confident that in the coming days, there will be more surrenders in Chhattisgarh and Telangana. The so-called 'Red corridor' comprising Gadchiroli (in Maharashtra), Chhattisgarh and Telangana will soon dwindle and I'm proud that the start has been made in Maharashtra."
