BHU writes to EC against AAP banner

VARANASI: Banaras Hindu University ( BHU) has shot off a letter to the Election Commission seeking action against Aam Aadmi Party for using a banner displaying a picture of varsity founder Madan Mohan Malaviya with the party's symbol broom on his head.

"A letter has been shot off to the Chief Election Commissioner, New Delhi and CEO, Uttar Pradesh yesterday by the administration asking for action against use of broom over head of Malviya during AAP Mar 25 rally," a BHU official said here.

He said that picture of such legends like Malaviyaji are put in various government offices and are respected, but using it for mere political gain is a disrespect to the legend.

"From this act of AAP, sentiments of whole BHU family has been hurt. This kind of act should not be repeated again by anyone," he said.
