Bharatiya Janata Party sets 'Mission 44+' for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls
JAMMU: BJP today set a target of winning '44 plus' seats in the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir to form the government on its own.

"The office-bearers of the state unit of the BJP on June 15 resolved to accomplish 'Mission 44+' in J-K and form government in the state on its own", BJP General Secretary Kavinder Gupta told reporters here.

There are 87 seats in the state Assembly. Gupta, who was flanked by another General Secretary Bali Bhagat, said formation of BJP government in the state would ensure equal development of all the three regions - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

Claiming that Congress and NC were in complete disarray, he said, "The two parties have lost their sheen and appeal and become thoroughly unpopular."

"If BJP could win three out of six Lok Sabha seats in the state and get over 32 per cent votes polled and decimate Congress, NC and PDP in Jammu and Ladakh, why can't it win more than 44 Assembly seats in the state?, asked Bhagat.

The BJP leaders expressed hope that Muslims in Kashmir would surely support BJP and join mainstream politics to enjoy the fruits of democracy.
