All the services that may be affected in today's Bharat bandh

The Bharat bandh will run from 11am to 3pm, with transport services, offices and shops - particularly those selling fruits and vegetables - in some states and cities likely to be affected.

The nationwide shutdown called today by farmers over the three Agriculture Laws received a mixed response with most of the businesses and transport services remaining normal in the national capital.

The Bharat bandh will run from 11am to 3pm, with transport services, offices and shops - particularly those selling fruits and vegetables - in some states and cities likely to be affected.

Farmers, from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, who have been agitating over the "black laws" since November 26 at several borders of the national capital, called for Bandh after several rounds of talks with the government over the new farm laws remained inconclusive.


Opposition states - Rajasthan, Bengal, Kerala, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Puducherry-- are also backing the bandh.

What will remain closed:

  • Public transport services: The 4-hour bandh will affect transport services, especially in an around the National Capital.
  • Goods transportation: The All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), a transport body has backed Bharat bandh. AIMTC represents about 95 lakh truckers and other entities.
  • Cab services: Some of the taxi and cab unions, including app-based aggregators like Ola and Uber, will join the strike.
  • Mandis: In Delhi, wholesale vegetable and fruit markets is likely to be closed.
  • Trains: Two of the biggest Railway unions - AIRF and NFIR - have extended their support to the bandh and have planned rallies in their support.
  • Borders: The Singhu, Auchandi, Piao Maniyari, Mangesh borders, Tikri and Jharoda borders will most likely be closed. NH-44 may also remain closed.
  • Restaurants: Hotel and Restaurant Association of Punjab has announced that it will shut down all hotels, restaurants, resorts, and bars in the state.
What will remain open:
  • Banks: The strike will not impact banks. Bank unions have expressed solidarity with farmers, but will not actively participate in the bandh.
  • Emergency services: Emergency vehicles, ambulances and hospital services will remain unaffected.
  • BEST buses: Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport buses will operate as usual.
