Best Janmashtami tableaux to be awarded this year: Harish Rawat, CM, Uttarakhand

DEHRADUN: Four best tableaux to be taken out in Haridwar on the occasion of Janmashtami will be awarded this year, Chief Minister Harish Rawat has said.

A committee under the state government's culture department will select four best tableaux for prizes.

The first prize will carry Rs 50,000, the second Rs 30,000, the third Rs 25,000 and the consoltion prize Rs 21,000, an official release here said.

Making the announcement at a meeting with the state government's culture department here yesterday, Rawat said awards are being given to the best Janamshtami tableaux in Haridwar and the event is being included in the annual calendar of the state's cultural events this year as the state government wants it to become a means of luring tourists, the release said.

The chief minister also asked officials of the department to organise cultural events in Tehri, Almora and Dehradun from November 6 to 8 on the occasion of Uttarakhand's state foundation day.
