Bengaluru's metro launch between Magadi and Mysuru road delayed, it's poll code this time
BENGALURU: The opening of the metro service between Magadi Road and Mysuru Road stations is expected to be delayed due to the electoral code of conduct.

The code of conduct has come into effect with the State Election Commission announcing polls for Bengaluru's civic body on last Thursday .

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) was planning to throw open the services on the 6.4 km stretch covering Magadi Road, Hosahalli, Vijayanagar, Attiguppe, Deepanjalinagar and Mysuru Road stations by the end of this month. The code will be in force till August 1.

The trail run on this stretch has been going on since March, when BMRCL MD Pradeep Singh Kharola said the line would be opened this month.

“All the works at our end are done. The Commissioner of Railway Safety is expected to inspect the route, which may happen in a week. He may have a couple of observations and when everything is done, we will approach the government on fixing a date for the inauguration. The state government will have to take a call," said UA Vasanth Rao, General Manager ( Finance), BMRCL.

Meanwhile, a tunnel boring machine named Margarita, which is tunnelling from Majestic metro station towards the Mantri Mall station, has stopped working due to a technical snag.
