Bengaluru's Hoodi ward's water and infrastructure woes
Common complaints in the Hoodi ward area are the 'once-a-week' Cauvery water supply, choked drains and air and noise pollution.

The interiors of Hoodi remain very much rural and there is no semblance of development despite its proximity to international tech hubs like the ITPB and the Bhoruka Tech Park. Common complaints are the 'once-a-week' Cauvery water supply, choked drains and air and noise pollution. "What adds to this is the general lack of cleanliness in the area," he said.
"Water is a major problem. We get the supplies only once in a week. The drains get blocked when it rains, which leads to mosquito-breeding," said Karumbaiah BK, manager at Aarusha Homes, a paying-guest facility on third cross, Mahadevapura post.
Abhay Madlur, an employee with ABB Ltd, pointed out that the HoodiAiyappa Nagar road, which was laid only a few months ago, is already doted with potholes. The poor quality of asphalt, which is wearing off, kicks up a lot of dust. Despite being narrow, the inner roads in the ward are clogged with traffic on most working days.
Traffic is a huge problem, like in many areas of Bengaluru. "The volume of traffic has increased and there are jams everywhere. There should be alternative routes to divert the traffic," said Elliot Devasagayam, engineering group manager, General Motors and a resident of Belathur.
