The chronology
As per a Times of India report, the drama began around 7 pm in front of Pulakeshinagar MLA Akhanda Srinivasamurthy’s house and lasted till 2 am. Things deteriorated after 10 pm as mobs locked up KG Halli and DJ Halli stations and torched police vehicles.

Congress MLA targetted
A large number of people gathered near MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy's residence and vandalised it and damaged the vehicles parked there.

Cops bore the brunt too
The mob had targeted the police station and damaged vehicles believing that the police had kept the accused detained there. As per a report of Times of India, around 70 cops were injured in the riot. Three police stations were attacked. There was a guerrilla-like attack against cops, according to the report of ToI.
Police commissioner Kamal Pant told ToI that cops were targetted with flower pots, stones of all sizes, bottles, tyres, wooden logs and bricks.
