Bengaluru police passes now valid till April 20, says DGP

BENGALURU: Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood on Tuesday said all curfew passes, both electronic and physical, issued by the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner will be valid up to April 20 by default.

They were valid up to April 14 as per the earlier orders.

The Bengaluru Police introduced a pass system at the beginning of the lockdown last week to facilitate free movement of personnel engaged with activities such as healthcare, essential supplies, media, Ecommerce, food delivery drug retailing and grocery stores. The police later switched to e-pass, and many of these passes are valid up to April 14.


Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday said the government will review the situation later and decide on permitting economic activity in certain sectors after April 20 after studying the Centre’s guidelines.

In a direction, DGP Sood asked all senior police officers of Bengaluru to sensitise the field level policemen on duty. The system of emergency manual/electronic day passes needs to be supervised closely because citizens who have patiently waited till April 14 will be “disappointed to some extent and agitated more than before. These passes should continue to be given as per the system already prevailing,” Sood said, and added that the system will be reviewed after April 20.
