NIA has claimed that the crude bomb that went off on Church Street on December 28, 2014, was intended for an Israeli delegation.

BENGALURU: The National Investigative Agency has claimed that the crude bomb that went off on Church Street on December 28, 2014, was intended for an Israeli delegation that was dining in a restaurant on the street. NIA issued the statement after it arresting Mohammad Rafeeq, alias, Alam Jeb Afridi (30), a resident of Ahmedabad on Friday.

The crude bomb went off outside the Coconut Groove restaurant, killing a woman and injuring a man. NIA claimed that Afridi was a member of the Student Islamic Movement of India and has been absconding for more than five years. He had apparently been living on the outskirts of Bengaluru for nearly three years and was working as a AC mechanic.
