Bengaluru accounts for 24% of 6,257 new coronavirus cases in Karnataka

BENGALURU: Karnataka reported 6,257 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, taking the state’s overall case tally to 1,88,611.

Bengaluru, which has been a Covid epicentre, accounted for just 24% of the total cases (1,610), lowest in the recent weeks. The number of Covid positive persons who were cured and discharged exceeded the new cases. As many as 6,473 people recovered on Tuesday and 1,508 of them were from Bengaluru. The state also reported 86 Covid deaths, of which 17 were from Bengaluru. The number of deaths to be reported in the IT city too has seen a decline in the last few days.

Ballari and Belagavi recorded 736 and 575 Covid cases respectively, indicating a spike in the cases in districts outside of Bengaluru.


As on Tuesday, out of 1.88 lakh total positive cases, 1.05 lakh patients were discharged. Active cases in the state now stand at 79,606 and 41% of these cases are in Bengaluru
