Chatterjee, who was also sent to judicial custody for 14 days, is now staying in the "safest" cell in the high profile section of the Presidency Correctional Home.
Former minister Partha Chatterjee, who is currently in judicial remand, is not keen on resigning from the MLA's post, and has reportedly expressed unhappiness over the argument of his counsel that Chatterjee was willing to give up the post, if need be.

"Chatterjee is not thinking about resigning from the MLA post. Chatterjee told me that he is with the Trinamool Congress and has full faith in the party," one of Chatterjee's counsels told ET. Chatterjee's lawyer Krishna Chandra Das, while pleading for bail in a special PMLA court on Friday, had claimed that Chatterjee was not as "influential" as claimed by the Directorate of Enforcement. He has been removed as minister from Mamata Banerjee's cabinet and suspended from the party after he was removed from all party posts.

Chatterjee also reportedly met another of his counsels, Sukanya Bhattacharya, on Saturday at the Presidential Correction Home, where he is currently lodged. Chatterjee has been allowed a bed in his cell due to his medical conditions, prison sources said.
