Bengal, Kerala support attacks on Hindus: RSS
NEW DELHI: The RSS that has always described itself as a cultural organisation turned a tad political on Tuesday when it alleged that the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal and CPM-led Left Front government in Kerala support violence against Hindus.

The state government in West Bengal was encouraging anti-national elements due to its Muslim vote-bank politics and was responsible for declining Hindu population in the state, the resolution of the RSS passed in the annual pratinidhi sabha, the highest decisionmaking body of the Sangh stated.

“This (decline in Hindu population in West Bengal) is a matter of serious concern to the unity and integrity of the country,” RSS joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale told reporters briefing about the deliberations at the meeting.

Hosabale said the Hindu population in the state, which constituted 78.45% in 1951, had declined to 70.54% as per the 2011 census. The resolution said that growing incidents of attack on security forces in the state are posing a serious challenge to national security and law and order.

The three-day meeting was chaired by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat along with his deputy Bhaiyaji Suresh Joshi. The resolution passed at the meet accused the TMC government of discriminating against Hindus in Bengal. The RSS has called the situation alarming, accusing the state government of appeasing fundamentalist forces in Bengal.

The resolution passed by the body said that the Hindus are being attacked by fundamentalist elements at several places in West Bengal where large numbers of Hindus are being forced to flee from their homes.

Dubbing the situation in Kerala too as “worrisome,” Hosabale said that after LDF victory, there had been sudden increase in the attacks on activists and organisations associated with the RSS.

The Pratinidhi Sabha is the highest decision making body of the RSS. It meets once every year after Holi. All important decisions of the Sangh are taken in the threeday meeting.
