Steps would also be taken to stop drunken driving and bike racing. “Ten more mini buses routes would soon be created in the city,” said Adhikari.
“The entire procedure of issuance of licenses would be made more stringent to check road accidents. CCTVs will be installed at all the training centres to monitor and record the steps of getting a driving license. The new initiative will also fix the accountability of motor vehicle inspectors. In case of an accident, the transport department will investigate if the driver was issued license according to the norms,” said Adhikari.
The new training modules that would be given out to the training schools would be in three languages-— Bengali, English and Hindi.

The minister also said that his department will soon give registrations to the e-rickshaws so that they can be brought under insurance coverage. More than 4,000 e-rickshaws have already been given registration.
