“Since yesterday evening, the focus was on the publication of ER,” a top EC official told ET, adding that the publication work had continued all night.
The total population of Bengal is 7.66 crore plus and the draft roll will be published for the public on December 16. As per ECI sources, more than 90,000 BLOs have worked in the entire Bengal SIR exercise.
After publication of the draft Electoral rolls, Claims and Objection period will continue from December 16, 2025, to January 17, 2026. The notice phase (Hearing & Verification) will start from December 16 and continue till February 7,2026. Publication of Final Electoral Rolls will be on February, 2026.
As per the status report on Saturday 12PM, in Bengal, altogether 58,20,897 lakh plus (7.6% of the total electors) names are set to get deleted and more than 31,39,815 people will go for hearing, as per the status report of Election Commission. Meanwhile, around 13.74 lakh plus ASD (Absent, Shifted, Dead & Duplicate voters ) discrepancies have been identified in the electoral list by the Election Commission of India.
