Bengal Congress guns for anti-Mamata PCC President
NEW DELHI: Even as AICC is in the process of an internal debate on the party’s future stand in poll-bound West Bengal, some state Congress leaders have met Sonia Gandhi and opposed the political path chosen by Adhir Chowdhary, a vocal critic of Mamata Banerjee. Many see this as the beginning of an in-house campaign to remove Chowdhary from the PCC leadership ahead of the state polls, especially after the party’s dismal show in last week’s bypolls.

Chwodhary’s relations with Banerjee became hostile after she began targeting his political turf. Among the leaders who met Gandhi on Friday are Somen Mitra and Deepa Dasmunsi who are fighting turf war with Banerjee and, therefore, seeking tactical understanding with Left to guard their seats.
