Bengal Congress condemns Delhi Police act at Rahul Gandhi's residence

KOLKATA: West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee today strongly condemned Modi government for alleged "snooping" and making "unnecessary and weird enquiries" by the Delhi Police at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's residence.

Adopting a resolution to stand beside Rahul Gandhi and condemning the alleged act by the Delhi Police, the state Congress has written a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Describing the act by the Delhi police as "political espionage," WBPCC president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury told a press conference that the party would fight against this "most illegal act."

"We shall prove how such an act by the Delhi Police was directed by the BJP government out of political vendetta," Chowdhury said.

"We condemn this political espionage and surveillance of rival political party," he said.

Chowdhury also expressed solidarity with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has been summoned as accused by a special court in a coal scam case.

"Law will prove the allegations as wrong and motivated," he said.

"We stand beside our leaders Rahul Gandhi and Manmohan Singh in both the cases and condemn the conspiracy by the ruling party at the Centre," Chowdhuri added.
