Bengal BJP govt to table CAG report on 28 departments, may take action against former CM if needed

Kolkata: West Bengal government will place CAG report of 28 departments, including Amphan funds, in a special session in assembly. Action may also be taken against former CM and ministers with governor's permission if there are recommendations by CAG.

WB CM Suvendu Adhikari said on Wednesday with the permission of governor a special session will be called soon.

"Then we will make a decision, and place the CAG recommendations on corruption. If it involves the former Chief Minister or others, we will seek Governor's permission to file an FIR against them," Adhikari said.


"I would like to remind you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had provided ₹3,750 crore in two installments during Cyclone Amphan," the CM said. "Major corruption took place during Amphan, leading to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Calcutta High Court. In connection with that case, a special CAG investigation was conducted. That investigation report was not made public, nor was it presented in the House," he said.

No legal action was taken against those accused in that investigation report, despite recommendations by CAG, Adhikari added.
