Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar to meet leaders from Matua community

In a bid to appease the dissident leaders from the Matua community and BJP MLAs from Purulia and Bankura, state President Sukanta Majumdar has called a meeting with these leaders from the Matua community. Meanwhile, The BJP MLAs from the Matua community are likely to write a letter to BJP National president J P Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking resolution of their demands. It is learnt that BJP MLAs from the Matua community will also write to the central leadership on implementation of the CAA.

“The BJP state leadership is trying to resolve the issues by which the BJP leaders, including the Matuas and other MLAs, who are irked with the leadership on various issues including non-inclusion of the Matua leaders in the state committee,” BJP sources told ET.

The Matua crisis in the BJP is yet to get resolved even as the Matua MLAs are still waiting for BJP National President J P Nadda's or state leadership's intervention for induction of Matua representatives in the state committee.


BJP Haringhata MLA Asim Sarkar today reached MoS Shantanu Thakur’s residence meeting to hold a meeting with the Matua leaders. “The CAA issue is a long-time demand of the Matuas and the representative of the community can write to the central leadership demanding implementation of the CAA,” Sarkar said.

Meanwhile, the nine BJP MLAs from Purulia and Bankura had expressed displeasure about the BJP leadership in Bengal. They have also been called in the meeting.

After dissolving the newly formed BJP state and district committees, BJP leadership led by state President Sukanta Majumdar has called a meeting of the District Presidents and various district level leaders.
