Believers Church reaches out to Latur drought victims
The Church to supply food and water to 12 most-affected villages; over one thousand families may benefit from the initiative

Believers Church conducted a survey of the area along with local authorities to identify 12 most needy villages under 2 talukas of the Latur district.
"We realized that these villages need immediate intervention. Our plan is to supply one tanker of water daily to every village and supply grocery items to 1000 needy families. We will do this for one month and then take a stock of the situation", Father Josemon of Believers Church said.
Whereas one tanker of water will cost Rs 2600, the Church claims to spend Rs 2000 per family per month for the grocery supply.
The villages that will benefit from this campaign are Takka village, Jaman Nagar, Thad, Takka, Apechunda, Birvali, Chincholi, Jainagar, Maharana Pratap Nagar, Sidheswar Nagar, Leprosy Colony and Vijay Nagar village.
Dr K P Yohannan, Metropolitan of Believers Church, said, "Our brothers and sisters in Latur are facing one of the worst droughts in the recent past. Incidents like Nepal earthquake and Kollam fire tragedy teach us there is not much we can do to prevent such these unfortunate instances. But we can definitely stand by people and do our bit to help them in every way we can."
