Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned the BJP leaders against losing connect with the masses in the wake of election victories and the weak opposition, as he gave them the mantra of building a "bridge of faith" with the common people at the party's national executive meeting on Sunday.

Addressing 342 BJP leaders including the special and permanent invitees, some of whom joined virtually, the prime minister said one of the primary reasons for the party's rise to the top had been its connection with the people.

In a press interaction, Union environment minister Bhupendra Yadav said: "In his inspiring and important message, the prime minister gave a mantra to the BJP workers to become a bridge of faith with the common people. He said one of the main reasons for the BJP occupying the present position had been its connection with the people. We are not a family- owned party." Modi underlined that the BJP has followed its conventions, tradition and benefitted from the hard work of the cadres.


The prime minister said three generations of BJP workers have nurtured the party.

The contributions of some lesser known party workers should be acknowledged through the 'Kamal Pushp' section on the NaMo App.

In his 50-minute speech, the prime minister said the party should move forward confidently with this credo. He mentioned the services rendered by the BJP workers to the common people during the Covid-19 pandemic with the spirit of "sewa parmo dharma". This has been taken ahead while achieving the 100-crore vaccination target.

Modi also said the "economy is on the upswing and the government has done well at the global stage, especially on the issue of climate change". The PM spoke about the COP26 summit in Glasgow and the Covid fight back.

Before the prime minister's speech, the chief ministers of the poll-bound states presented reports on the political situation and the state of preparedness in their respective states. While Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath was physically present, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Goa CM Pramod Sawant and Manipur CM Biren Singh attended virtually.

Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma presented the report on his state and said the party will contest all 117 seats in 2022.

Prime Minister Modi appreciated the reports in his address and said that from what the chief ministers have said, the party can march forward with confidence and conviction to victory in the forthcoming assembly polls.

He appreciated the efforts made by the BJP workers through the "sewa hi sangathan" drive to serve the people.
