BCCI hearing on Bhajji-Sree slapgate ends

AHMEDABAD:The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hearing into the Harbhajan Singh - Sreesanth slapgate issue has ended in Ahmedabad.
Senior advocate Sudhir Nanavati, the BCCI-appointed Commissioner has been probing the slapping row involving Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth. Post hearing, Nanavati will now be wrapping up the investigation on the case.
Harbhajan and Sreesanth had confirmed their appearance before Nanavat after being summoned on May 4.
The Ahmedabad-based lawyer earlier said that he was "shocked" after seeing the video footage of the incident that took place after an Indian Premier League match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab on April 25 at Mohali.
He had seen the footage at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai with IPL Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi, Board Secretary Niranjan Shah and Joint Secretary M P Pandove. Harbhajan has already been banned from rest of the IPL and also fined after he was found guilty of slapping Sreesanth by the IPL match referee Farokh Engineer.
Nanavati, an Ahmedabad-based lawyer has already recorded the statements of umpire Amish Saheba and Engineer. He was appointed under the Rule 32 of the BCCI under which the Board president has the power to appoint a Commissioner to assist its disciplinary Committee.

The report submitted by Nanavati will be refereed to the BCCI disciplinary Committee after Board president Sharad Pawar goes through it. The Committee will then decide on the action to be taken against the player after Monday.Download
