BC Khanduri likely to replace Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank as Uttarakhand CM

NEW DELHI: The BJP is considering appointing BC Khanduri as the Uttarakhand chief minister, replacing Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.

Party leaders met Nishank on Saturday after which he offered to resign, said sources. But a formal announcement was yet to be made by the party.

The BJP is hoping to cash in on Khanduri’s clean image at a time when it is intensifying its campaign against corruption. Nishank had taken over as a consensus choice.

But infighting in the state unit and graft charges against his government prompted the leadership to mull a leadership change.
