Former DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh today assumed charge as president of the women's wing of Delhi Congress.

NEW DELHI: Former DCW chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh today assumed charge as president of the women's wing of Delhi Congress.

Taking charge as chief of the Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress in presence of DPCC president Ajay Maken and All India Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza, she stressed on building up cadre base of the outfit for enrolling more women members to the party.

Maken praised Barkha Singh's work during her tenure as the chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

She raised her voice against atrocities on women and took action against the accused disregarding their standing and position, he said.

Barkha Singh was the DCW chairperson when AAP leader Somnath Bharti's wife lodged a complaint against him with the women's body.

Shobha Oza also lauded her role as DCW chairperson and hoped that she will strengthen the Mahila Congress in Delhi.
