NEW DELHI: In another sign of growing bonhomie, US President Barack Obama will join Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his monthly radio address to the people of India on January 27.

Modi's monthly radio address `Mann Ki Baat' this time will be a “special edition'' one with Obama and the government is leaving no stone unturned to make it one of the most widely covered event in the world.

Announcing the initiative PM Modi tweeted, “This month's `Mann Ki Baat' episode will be a special one, where our Republic Day guest @BarackObama & I will share our thoughts together. I am eagerly looking forward to the special `Mann Ki Baat' programme with President @BarackObama, which will be aired on 27th January .'' TOI was the first to report on the joint radio address.

Modi has been addressing the nation over radio since October through the the pro gramme. Inviting questions from the public, he said, “‘ Mann Ki Baat’ with President @BarackObama will not be complete without your participation! Send your Qs till the 25th, using #AskObamaModi”, the PM said.

Besides state run broadcasters AIR and Doordarshan, the programme will be available on all private TV channels, radio stations, all DTH platforms and will be live streamed not just on YouTube but on AIR’s channels, including FM Gold, FM Rainbow, Vividh Bharati and Urdu Service that are available on the web.

It will be translated to regional languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telegu, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Bengali, Kashmiri, Dogri, Punjabi, Maithili, Santhali and Bodo. AIR stations in northeast capitals have been tasked with translating it into to dialects for broadcast in the time slot meant for regional language versions.
