Bar Council meet to discuss Law Commission reforms on July 8
The meeting would also discuss introduction of stringent disciplinary measures suggested as part of the reforms, said BCI co-chairman S Prabakaran.

CHENNAI: The Bar Council of India ( BCI) has invited all lawyers associations in the country for a joint meeting on July 8 to discuss the sweeping reforms recommended by the Law Commission three months ago.
The meeting would also discuss introduction of stringent disciplinary measures suggested as part of the reforms, BCI co-chairman S Prabakaran said in separate letters to all lawyers associations.
Stating that some provisions in the proposed amendments to the Advocates Act 1961 were ambiguous, he asked the legal fraternity to give their views and suggestions.
After the joint meeting on July 8, two representatives each from state Bar councils would meet on July 9 for discussions and suggestions, he said.
Opposing the amendments to the Advocates Act, lawyers across the country had boycotted courts after the Commission proposed reforms.
