Bangladesh will deploy 50 barges exclusively for movement of goods between Assam, Bangladesh
India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) president, Abdul Matlub Ahmad said that the 50 barges, each with capacity of 300 to 500 tons, will be used for trade between Assam and Bangladesh. It will be ready within a year.

This is one of the major outcome of the two day India-Bangladesh Stakeholders’ Meet which concluded on Wednesday in Guwahati.
India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) president, Abdul Matlub Ahmad said that the 50 barges, each with capacity of 300 to 500 tons, will be used for trade between Assam and Bangladesh. It will be ready within a year.
A task force will soon be formed with representatives from Bangladesh, Assam and Government of India. In Assam the task force will be headed by the chief minister and on the Bangladesh side it will headed by commerce minister.
Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries, Rameswar Teli urged the entrepreneurs of Bangladesh to come forward to setup food processing units in Assam.
The Union Minister said that the Central Government has planned for Food Parks in different states of the country. He invited investors from Bangladesh to invest in Food Parks and expressed Government’s willingness to offer 50% subsidy to the investors of the neighbouring country for their investment in food processing sector in the North East Region.
