Bangla influx seen behind Assam population rise
BJP has raised question over the rise of voters from 2004-09.
The BJP���s youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), feels the Bangladesh influx has triggered such growth in the number of voters.
BJYM president Dilip Saikia said: We want the government to take note of the abnormal growth in voters between 2004 and 2009. BJYM has demanded a thorough checking of voters list that was finalised in 2006.
The wing has submitted a memorandum to the chief election commissioner on Monday. It also said the abnormal rise of over 24 lakh voters and that has posed a serious threat to the demography of the state.
