Bangalore Royal Challengers look to avoid wooden spoon

Beleaguered Bangalore Royal Challengers would be searching for their third win and something to save their pride in their Indian Premier League campaign against Delhi Daredevils at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Monday.

BANGALORE: Beleaguered Bangalore Royal Challengers would be searching for their third win and something to save their pride in their Indian Premier League campaign against Delhi Daredevils at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Monday.

Virtually out of contention for a semifinal berth, the home team would want to avoid the wooden spoon and they must be smelling the chance to notch up their first win after four consecutive losses against a team who are a bit down after losing a few close matches including Saturday's rain-marred tie against Kings XI Punjab who won by six runs via Duckworth-Lewis method.

For the Delhi Daredevils, tomorrow's match would be make or break tie for them to earn a semifinal spot.

With 10 points from 11 matches, the Delhi team can't afford to lose another match as the competition for the last four berth hots up.

Rajasthan Royals' 65-run victory over Rahul Dravid-led side' on Monday had virtually handed the Jaipur team a semifinal spot while the Daredevils had allowed Kings XI Punjab to strengthen their chances for a last four berth.

Nothing has been going right for the home team and even after captain Rahul Dravid found his touch with a 36-ball unbeaten 75 against Rajasthan Royals on Monday, he ended up at the losing side.

Dravid, who got the flak even from his team owner for buying a "Test team on Twenty20 jersey", would want to continue his form and help to restore some respect to his side in the remaining matches.
