Bangalore Metro plans to launch Anjanapura route in November, Kengeri in February

BENGALURU: Chief Miniser BS Yediyurappa on Thursday said all projects under Metro Phase II will be completed in June 24 as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation announced it plans to open the Yelachenahalli-Anjanapura route in November this year, and the Mysuru Road-Kengeri strech in February next year.

The news is sure to gladden residents of south Bengaluru as commuting between north and south and east and western parts of Bengaluru is a big hassle and time consuming in view of the narrow roads between them, and traffic congestion.

The Metro also announced it plans to launch operations on Nagasadra- BIEC in Jan 2022 and Byapanahalli-Whitefield in June 2022. As for the new route, it plans to open RV Road-Bommasandra in March 2022 and Kalena Agrahara-Nagawara in June 2024. The chief minister on Thursday launched tunnel boring machine (TBM) Urja in Shivajinagar which will start digging tunnel upto Cantonment and beyond. The government, he said, would be spending Rs 30,695 crore on metro phase II.


The government, he said, was upgrading arterial roads in the city at an expenditure of Rs 456 crore, and lifting 36 roads as smart roads to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles. The government, he said, would also provide drinking water to 110 villages at an expenditure of Rs 1500 crore.
