Ban on SIMI should stay: Congress

NEW DELHI: Disagreeing with some of its allies including RJD, LJP and Samajwadi Party opposing the move, Congress today endorsed the Centre's stand for a ban on SIMI contending that anti-national activities should not be permitted.

"This is a coalition government. I am giving Congress' point of view. If government has the proof, we do endorse its stand", party spokesperson Jayanti Natrajan told reporters when asked about the stand of these allies that there should not be any ban on SIMI.

RJD, LJP and SP have sought to paint SIMI, suspected to be behind recent serial blasts in Ahmedabad and Bangalore, as innocent.
