Bajrang Dal youth held for tweet threat gets bail

MANGALURU: Police on Monday arrested Bhuvith Shetty day arrested Bhuvith for posting a threatening tweet soon after the murder of writer MM Kalburgi in Dharwad on Sunday.

But Shetty was bailed on Monday evening -even before he was produced before a magistrate. Nearly two and half hours after Kalburgi was shot dead on Sunday, Shetty tweeted through #GarudaPurana, a handle that was subsequently removed: "Then it was UR Anantamoorty and now it is MM Kalburgi. Mock Hindu ism and die a dogs death. And dear K.S Bhagwan you are next". The tweet drew heavy criticism online. Following this, cops lodged a case and Shetty was arrested from Kem pugudde. The 25 year-old, involved in three previous cases including an assault, is a Bajrang Dal hetty worker and works as an accountant with a cooperative society, cops said.

Reacting to the tweet, the Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike, a forum for communal harmony, has urged the government to ban outfits whose members are found to have links to Kalburgi's murder.
