Bail plea of solar scam accused Tenny Joppan dimissed

The Kerala High Court today rejected the bail application of Tenny Joppan, former personal staff of CM Oommen Chandy, arrested in connection with solar panel scam case.

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court today rejected the bail application of Tenny Joppan, former personal staff of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, arrested in connection with solar panel scam case.

Dismisssing the application of Joppan, arrested on June 28 last, Justice Satish Chandran said when investigation of the crime was in progress, the petitioner was not entitled to bail.

The Court accepted the submission of the Advocate General that the peitioner, if released on bail, would tamper with evidence since he was attached to the Chief Minister and his personal assistants.

Earlier, the Chief Judicial Magistrate court at Pathanamthitta had rejected the bail plea of Joppan who was arrested for his alleged link with prime accused Saritha Nair.

Solar scam pertains to defrauding a large number of people to the tune of crores of rupees by Saritha Nair and her accomplice Biju Radhakrishnan by offering solar energy solutions.
