Bail application not moved in Jyothirmai murder case

An Indian student accused of murdering his compatriot will remain in police custody for the next two months as his defence lawyer did not move the bail application in the Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday

LONDON: An Indian student accused of murdering his compatriot will remain in police custody for the next two months as his defence lawyer did not move the bail application in the Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday.

Instead Sara Brinulow asked for eight weeks time to move the bail application of Nagaraja Kumar Nalluri, accused of murdering 23-year-old Samrajyo Jyothirmai Vempala.

The next hearing will be held on July 25. Vijayawada-born Jyothirmai was found murdered at her residence at Handsworth, a suburb of Birmingham on May 6. She was doing her postgraduation degee in Health Science at the University of Wolverhampton.

Nagraj Kumar Nalluri, a 24-year-old also a student at the Wolverhampton University shared the residence with Jyothirmai.
