Baig seeks private investment in J-K tourism sector

Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig on Tuesday sought private investment in the state's tourism industry to give a boost to the sector.

NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig on Tuesday sought private investment in the state's tourism industry to give a boost to the sector.

"We are seeking private investment in tourism to support the sector in a big way in the state," Baig told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

"Besides tourism, we are also encouraging private investment in health and education sector," he said.

"Today the existing law allows a non-Kashmiri to acquire land in the valley for developing infrastructure in hospitality, health and education sector. The land can be taken on lease for 99 years as per the law of the state," he said.
