Bhupesh Baghel government may accommodate 20 Congress-men in corporations & boards

New Delhi: The political crisis in Rajasthan has spurred Congress into action in Chhattisgarh to appease senior leaders. After appointing 15 parliamentary secretaries, the 18-month-old Bhupesh Baghel government is likely to accommodate 20 more Congressmen, including new entrants to the party, in different corporations and boards.

According to sources, Bhupesh Baghel has finalised appointments to 20 different corporations and boards, considered politically significant appointments, which have been pending for over a year.

The appointments follow the months-long exercise initiated by All India Congress Committee (AICC) incharge of Chhattisgarh PL Punia, who had visited Raipur last month to hear out the boards’ views before finalising the appointments. Last week, Chhattisgarh Congress president Mohan Markam also came to Delhi to discuss these appointments.


The government is likely to accommodate as heads of commissions and boards, Chhattisgarh Congress general secretary Girish Dewangan, party spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, party treasurer Ram Gopal Agarwal, Abhanpur MLA Dhanendra Sahu, Durg MLA and party veteran Motilal Vora’s son Arun Vora, Dongargarh MLA Bhuneshwar Baghel, Chandrapur MLA Ram Kumar Yadav, Saraipali MLA Kismatlal Nand, former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s niece Karuna Shukla, Congress general secretary Atal Shrivastav and party spokesperson Kiranmayee Nayak. Other leaders likely to be accommodated include Subhash Dhuppad, Surendra Sharma, Shafi Ahmed, Mallu Pathak and Chabindra Karma.
