GUWAHATI: Perfume baron and chief of All India United Democratic Front ( AIUDF) Badruddin Ajmal is served with show cause notice from the Election Commission of India (ECI) over his alleged comment on BJP.

Ajmal who is Maulana (cleric) from Deoband in Uttar Pradesh is seeking re-election from Dhubri constituency in Assam which is due on April 24. Recently while interacting with media persons said” Allah will not forgive anyone if BJP win even one seat in the state's Lok Sabha polls.”

The Chief Electoral Officer of Assam in a statement on Friday said that the show cause notice was served to Ajmal for violation of model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls.

The statement said that the notice was served to the AIUDF chief for a controversial statement, which he made before the media at a meeting in Guwahati on March 22.

ECI has asked Ajmal to reply the notice before April 14, the statement said and added that necessary action would be taken against him, if the AIUDF leader fails to reply the notice within stipulated time.
