Badal's pictures on ambulances: Congress threatens to move high court

According to a recent order of the ministry, the pictures of Chief Ministers should be removed from the ambulances by April.

JALANDHAR: Punjab Youth Congress on Monday threatened to move high court against the state government for failing to remove pictures of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal from the ambulances being run under a Central scheme.

"The state government is flouting the directions of the central Health Ministry. According to a recent order of the ministry, the pictures of Chief Ministers should be removed from the ambulances by April," Punjab Youth Congress chief Vikramjeet Singh Chaudhary said.

"If the state government does not comply with the order, we will move the high court. We will not allow the SAD-BJP government to take advantage of central government schemes," Chaudhary said.

"The Punjab government has hijacked the schemes being run by the central government. They are misleading the people by using the picture of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on the ambulances being run under the central government scheme," he said.

The central health ministry had issued order to all non-Congress ruled states to have the logo of NRHM ( National Rural Health Mission) inscribed on the vehicles being run under the '108 ambulance scheme' of the central government.

The ministry had also instructed the state to get 'National Ambulance Service' inscribed on the vehicles in English as well as the regional language.
