Back to paper: Arvind Kejriwal seeks ballot papers in Delhi polls

NEW DELHI: With the defeat in Punjab and Goa raising the stakes for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi elections, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has asked for the use of ballot papers, instead of electronic voting machines (EVM’s), in the upcoming municila polls.

According to party functionaries, the chief minister had reservations about the use of EVM’s and has directed Delhi’s chief secretary MM Kutty to write to the state election commission in this regard.

The move comes close on the heels of Mayawati questioning the “reliability” of EVMs. According to AAP volunteers in Punjab, where the party could win only 20 seats of the 117 assembly seats, tampering with EVM machines was one of the reasons for their defeat.
