Babu Singh Kushwaha expelled from BSP
The Bahujan Samaj Party czarina Mayawati has expelled her key aide and former minister Babu Singh Kushwaha from the party.
The BSP in its statement also said that off late Kushwaha was in touch with the Congress party to save himself from the CBI probe. Opposition party’s in UP have alleged that the NRHM scam leads right upto the highest level in the party.
Kushwaha was the minister for mining and family welfare in the Mayawati government when the killing of three government doctors led to a huge uproar in the state which led to the unraveling of a major scam in the family welfare and health department.
Chief Medical Officer, Family Welfare, Vinod kumar Arya was killed in broad daylight on October 2010. This was followed by the killing of CMO Dr BP Singh outside his home on 2 April.
The police under pressure from higher ups then framed the Deputy CMO, YS Sachan for getting the two doctors killed and was sent to jail.
Curiously, on 22 June, Dr Sachan was also found dead inside the jail premises. While earlier it was dismissed as a suicide by the police it was later proven that he was killed. The three murders were related to the rampant corruption in the implementation of the NRHM scheme in UP.
The CBI was later ordered to probe the matter which saw a jittery Mayawati government accepting the resignation of Babu Singh Kushwaha and also the health Minister Anant Kumar Mishra.
