NEW DELHI: Former BSP minister Babu Singh Kushawaha has asked to the BJP to hold his party membership in abeyance till his name is cleared in the National Rural Health Mission-related scam.

Kushawaha, whose entry into the BJP fold has kicked up a row, made his request in a letter to BJP president Nitin Gadkari.

Earlier in the day, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi claimed Kushawaha wanted to join the Congress after being sacked by Mayawati, but the party closed the doors on him. Rahul said the Congress told Kushawaha that the party will not admit any tainted politician.
