AHMEDABAD: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's trust today moved the Gujarat High Court against the Election Commission's cancellation of permission to his yoga camps in Ahmedabad and Vadodara.

The HC sought replies from the state government, the Election Commission of India and the police to the two petitions filed by Ramdev's Bharat Swabhiman Trust.

"Election commission has denied permission to conduct yoga shibirs (camps) citing the reason of violation of Model Code of Conduct," the petitioners have said.

The camps were scheduled for April 26 (Vadodara) and April 27 (Ahmedabad).

The division bench of Justice M R Shah and R P Dholeria posted the hearing to April 25.

Congress had approached the EC seeking denial of permission to the camps, alleging that Ramdev was openly canvassing for BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and other party leaders and he may use the camps for this purpose.
