Baba Ramdev 'blackmailing' government on graft issue: NCP

NCP on Friday accused yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who plans to launch a fast against corruption and black money tomorrow, and anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare of "blackmailing" the government on the issue of graft.

MEERUT: NCP on Friday accused yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who plans to launch a fast against corruption and black money tomorrow, and anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare of "blackmailing" the government on the issue of graft.

"Both Hazare and Ramdev are blackmailing the government and they should first peep into their own hearts," Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Tariq Anwar said. He also alleged that Ramdev is more of a "businessman" than a "sanyasi".

"Ramdev has become a 'vyapari' instead of a 'sanyasi', ten years back he used to ride a bicycle and now he travels in luxury cars, having property worth crores of rupees," Anwar said at a conference of the party today.

"Anna Hazare, who is a member of the drafting committee for Lok Pal Bill, is blackmailing the government and also misleading the public," the NCP MP said.

Talking about the next Assembly elections in UP, Anwar said, "NCP would fight on all the seats in the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh."
