NEW DELHI: Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said the country needs another green revolution, particularly in the eastern region, but avoid uncontrolled use of chemical fertilisers.

"Proper care has to be taken by balanced usage of fertilisers in bringing second green revolution. Indiscriminate use of urea and chemical fertilisers may be avoided," the minister said while inaugurating a workshop on the agriculture scenario in eastern India.

Singh also spoke about the importance of organic farming.

The agriculture ministry is working on a project to provide farmers with soil health card over the next three years to empower them with complete details about soil nutrient for effective crop management.
